A summer wedding at Three Little Birds Farm

Gabby and Nicolas chose the easy, rustic warmth of Three Little Birds Farm for their June wedding, a white barn and wide fields just outside Kelowna. The morning was soft and unhurried: Gabby getting into her beaded lace gown by the window, a bridesmaid in red helping with the last buttons, and the small details laid out on the farm tables and wine barrels while guests found their seats. Makeup was by Huma George.

They shared a first touch around the barn doorway before the ceremony, hands held around the corner, then married outside in front of the white barn with their guests close by. Nicolas wore a burgundy suit with a wildflower boutonniere, and burgundy carried through the bridesmaids and the bouquets. I photograph these moments the way I photograph the whole day, documentary and unscripted, staying out of the way and letting it happen.

After the ceremony we wandered into the pines for portraits, the bridal party with wildflower bouquets among the trees, Gabby reading her vows, the two of them laughing over a bottle of champagne in the meadow. The reception stayed right there at the farm, a memory table of framed photos and candles, and a flower-topped cake to finish the night. It was a warm, easygoing day that felt entirely like them.
