A Cambie Country Gardens wedding in Sicamous, BC

In mid-July, Kendra and Rory married at Cambie Country Gardens, a farm ringed by mountains in the Sicamous valley. Here is their day the way I shoot it, from a garden morning to a first dance under string lights.

A summer wedding at Cambie Country Gardens

Kendra and Rory picked a beautiful mountain-valley setting for their July wedding: Cambie Country Gardens, a farm tucked below the peaks near Sicamous. The morning had an easy garden feel, the groomsmen in tan suits and burgundy suspenders out on the lawn, Kendra laughing with her bridesmaids before slipping into her Candé Bridal gown, which hung waiting inside a circular floral hoop among the hydrangeas. Markushevska handled makeup and Shyla did hair.

They married outdoors on the lawn, guests gathered around a wooden hexagon arch with the forested mountainside rising behind them, Kendra walking in escorted by her parents. Her bridesmaids wore mismatched pastels and carried wildflowers, and the whole thing had a relaxed, joyful energy, right down to their dog joining for a few photos after the ceremony. I photograph these days documentary and unscripted, staying close and letting them unfold.

Golden hour at Cambie is something else, so we slipped into the backlit field for portraits, Rory in his blue suit, the two of them spinning and kissing under the low sun. The reception stayed right there beneath a white sailcloth tent: a sweetheart table under the hexagon arch and string lights, a vintage red canoe full of iced drinks for guests, sweets from The Stubborn Baker, and a first dance out in the open field as the mountains turned to silhouette. It was a gorgeous, warm night that felt just like them.
