A Fintry Manor House wedding in Vernon, BC

On a warm day at the end of June, Priscilla and Ryan married at Fintry Manor House on the quiet west shore of Okanagan Lake. Here is their day the way I shoot it, from a heritage-house morning to the last dance at the Sandman in Vernon.

A summer wedding at Fintry Manor House

Priscilla and Ryan chose one of the Okanagan's most distinctive heritage venues for a summer wedding: Fintry Manor House, the historic estate set on the quiet west shore of Okanagan Lake near Vernon. The morning began at the manor, Ryan and a groomsman getting ready out on the lawn while Priscilla dressed in one of the heritage rooms by the window, her lace-up corset gown from L'Amore Bridal being tied as the light came in. The invitation and rings sat styled on lace, small quiet things before a big day.

They married outdoors on the lawn beneath a floral arch, a flower girl in red leading the way and the bridesmaids in deep red gowns close behind. Red and burgundy ran through the whole day, from Flower Chick's blooms to the trailing amaranth on the head table. After the ceremony we slipped away for portraits: the white columns of the manor verandah, the sitting room, and the golden field at Fintry where the late afternoon light does all the work. I photograph it the way I photograph everything, documentary and unscripted, staying close and letting the day unfold.

From Fintry the celebration moved into Vernon, where the reception carried on at the Sandman Hotel. There was a white tiered cake from Cupcasions, a rose-covered backdrop, a head table dressed in reds, and Instant DJ keeping the floor full into the night. It was a bold, joyful day that felt every bit like Priscilla and Ryan.

Getting married at Fintry Manor House

Fintry is one of the more unique Okanagan wedding venues: a heritage manor, wide lawns, and lake and field backdrops you will not find anywhere else in the valley.
