A Saxe Point Park wedding in Victoria, BC

In June, Charlotte and Vis married by the ocean at Saxe Point Park in Victoria. Here is their day the way I shoot it, from a suspenders-and-lace morning to string lights at Swans.

A coastal wedding at Saxe Point Park

Charlotte and Vis brought me out to the coast for a June wedding at Saxe Point Park, a small oceanside park on the edge of Victoria. The morning was relaxed: Vis and his groomsmen in suspenders getting ready in the light, Charlotte's lace gown buttoned up the back with hair by Alana Lyla and makeup by Pretty Day Beauty Co, and her bridesmaids in dusty-rose gathering among the trees with their bouquets.

They married right on the bluff above the water, beneath a circular moon arch with the ocean stretching out behind them. It is one of the prettier coastal ceremony spots on the Island, and the wedding party spilled onto the grass afterward with bouquets raised. I photograph it the way I photograph everything, documentary and unscripted, close in and quiet.

We stole a little time on the ocean bluff for portraits before the evening moved indoors to the penthouse at Swans Pub in downtown Victoria, where the reception carried on under warm string lights and Jones Got Meat handled the food. It was a laid-back, joyful day, exactly the two of them.
