A Kekuli Bay & Sparkling Hill Resort wedding in Vernon, BC

On a late-October day, Carolyn and Rigaud met me for portraits above Kalamalka Lake, first at Kekuli Bay and then at Sparkling Hill Resort. Here is a look at their day, all autumn colour, deep-red florals, and lake views.

A fall portrait session at Kekuli Bay and Sparkling Hill

For Carolyn and Rigaud's late-October wedding near Vernon, we made the most of the North Okanagan in the fall. We started with portraits out at Kekuli Bay, up on the autumn bluff above Kalamalka Lake, Carolyn in a long veil with a deep-red bouquet and the water stretching out behind them. The wind caught the veil at just the right moments, the kind of frames you only get on a hillside like that.

From there we moved to Sparkling Hill Resort, perched high above the lake with its striking modern architecture and floor-to-ceiling windows. We used the light through the glass, the staircase, and the rooftop terrace with the Okanagan hills rolling away below. I photograph these moments documentary and unscripted, staying close and letting the two of them just be together.

Between the lake bluff and the resort terrace, it was a day of big views and quiet closeness, deep autumn reds against the blue of Kalamalka Lake. A beautiful way to mark the start of their marriage.
